Suprise suprise. Contrary to popular belief i haven't quite fallen off the face of the earth(yet). Things've been good. Taking something of a hiatus to get my Clark Kent on. Next year should be big though. New record, new tricks up the sleeve. I won't let any cats out of the bag just yet. BUT...lets just say i'm rolling the sleeves up and will be doing a little work with one of our favorite UK producers. Think 4 letter acronym and things that crawl around in the dark. Alright. That's all for the moment. Hope all is well on whatever corner of the earth you're on. Stay up.

Well, finally hit a creative spurt again and am wrapping up some of what i feel to be my most mature/ambitious work to date (I've been leaving myself messages on my answering machine again, you know what that means). Also been in the lab with Mecca and sax/producer extraordinaire Darryl Reeves, and things are sounding great. "One Day" instrumentals in april. Yeah, yeah i know its a long wait, but these things happen. More to come sooner than later.

Oh yeah, a friend of mine put together a video for "There's A War Going On". Take a Look and let us know what you think. As always, I appreciate the support. Until next time.

In other news, Mecca and I murdered it at the Velvet Underound the other night. Then went to check out Doom spinning at Djangos. I Also did a little set with the Common Ground (an amazing afrobeat collective) the next night, at Apache. Good times for all. And did you see the reviews section in URB this month? More Fiyah, as they say. I'm out though.

Okay its been a minute. My bad. I've been trying to handle some semi-grown man biz. So check out the November Issues of both URB and Elemental Magazine for features on yours truly. Single 2 (Dedicated, featuring DOOM) is coming soon. French tour next march, with spot dates before and after. By all means, if your friends dont know about "One Day..." yet, please put them on. I finally got up w/some musicians, and we've got some new stuff cooking . If things keep going the way they are, the next record is going to be nuts. Also, I've got some suprise collaborations coming up. I'll keep em up my sleeves for the moment. Lastly, Go Rent "Carandiru" (after you get City of God, and Amores Perros). Until next time.

Keep Pushing

Tuesday, June 15th

Oh by the way, just got the first "One Day" review, from next month's HHC in the UK:

"Wale Oyejide - One Day Everything Changed.
We live in an age of crunk, jiggy and gangsta. And while that¹s notnecessarily a bad thing it means that some classics are falling betweenthe cracks. A few years back ŒOne Day Everything Changed¹ would havebeen ŒAlbum Of The Month¹ with its easy beats that hark back to the daysof Tribe, Common and Pete Rock. The title cut features the slept onDetroit emcee Lacks who even manages to drop in a couple of ŒLord Of TheRings¹ references. The fantastic "There¹s A War Going On" features JayDee and is the first single to be lifted from this mighty album. Thesecond single will be "This Is Dedicated To" which features theubiquitous MF Doom. On this track Oyejide makes no attempt to hide hisinfluences instead he salutes them. This self-produced gem makes mostcontemporary rap albums seem obvious, crass and made for the market.

The band is almost fully assembled, so I'll be doing shows a lot more frequently soon. We're looking at a July release for "One Day". I've got an amazing designer working on the album art, and it looks great so far. yup.

Sunday, December 21, 2003

yo yo. quick update.
the "One Day..." sessions are going great. Lacks/Ta'Raach
came in yesterday and laid down a great remix for the first
single. He and Lil Sci are both laying down songs tomorrow, and
there are a few other tricks up my sleeve that I won't pull out
just yet. Trust me when I say that I'm coming out of the box with
a crazy entrance next year. I can't wait.

And speaking of year enders, 2003 was a great one.
Here's to hoping '04 is even better. Happy holidays kiddies.

By the way, Right now im listening to:
:The Quantic Soul Orchestra - Stampede...check this record out.
It's like a combination of live break beat/funk music.

:The Family Files Vol. 1 - This is the latest shaman work mixtape.
Featuring me, doom, lacks/ta'raach, sol uprising, kmd, scienz of
life, emanon...etc.

Back from NY. Big ups to all the CMJ Dj's I met.
And Mc's, producers etc...(J-live, Evil Dee, the Others,
Roosevelt Franklin and them). The trip was fun.
I can tell I'm not going enjoy touring for extended
periods very much. There's nothing like your own bed
and shower. I'm really happy to be back. New York is
way too grimey and busy for me.

Angry robots is going through a few changes.
Message boards coming soon.

Oh, and check out the new Shaman Work online store.
You'll be able to cop everything from my essdub label
mates ahead of time, not to mention with goodies and
for a cheaper price than retail there. Including the new
limited edition Broken Jazz 101 Promo EP.

Not much new news at the moment. I'm trying to focus
and pick a direction for the new album. So far, all the
new stuff is very afro-beat-ish. What can I say,
I've been bumping a lot of fela lately.

holla.

Once again we're back.

I've been busy. Just got back from NYC for the REMIX Magazine
conference, now I'm heading back there tomorrow for the CMJ
conference. Third Earth Music is having an artist showcase, so me
and the rest of the Earthlings will be rocking tomorrow night
(check the Events section for more info on that).

Also. the "Kaya" single is out and in stores.
"Hold On To..."(feat.MF Doom) will be in stores tomorrow.
Wale Oyejide - "Broken Jazz 101" PROMO EP is available only
by special order (check the sounds page).
My debut album as "Wale Oyejide" is slated for next April.
Title is still TBA (I haven't decided on one yet.
Have a few new songs...some of the best work I've ever done
I think. I'm excited. Think thats about it for now.

Oh, The Message Boards should be back up in a few days.
Then I'll once again be able to embrace the many masses
that grace this site daily.

Til then...

Yes yes y'all. And now for your monthly update from your
friendly neighborhood nigerian(and to think I had intended on

means, please support. and holler at your local djs. tell them to
do the same.

Wale Oyejide - "Broken Jazz 101'. A promo EP with 7 new songs
that we'll be floating around to get a buzz going. We're only pressing
like 500 copies, so by all means, grab one while you can. It won't be
sold in stores. holler at shamanwork.com for a copy if you're interested.

In other news, Pick up the latest issue of URB
(with Fannypack on the cover). They reviewed "Walls..." and gave it
a 4.5/5. gyea!

The Sci Fi tour probably wont be til early next year at this rate.
However, there is a very good chance that I will be going to Europe
at the beginning of November to support my 3rd Earth Label-mates
"Roosevelt Franklin".

Hm. I think that's mostly it for now. Oh. yeah. still need band members
yall. Since the boards are down at the moment, please email me if
you're in the atlanta area if you'd like to "rock with me, take it to the

Whats the deal.

Sorry about the lack of updates, but I just moved back to ATL
so I've been trying to get settled. I'm pretty much about business
at the moment, and i've begun working on ideas for both
the "Wale Oyejide" and "Science Fiction" albums. Speaking of, the
first Wale single "Kaya" is slated to drop in late September, around
the same time as the next Sci Fi single "Hold On". Let the good times
roll.

Check the gallery for new update with pics from the
"Walls..." release party.

And look at this, it's the new Sci.Fi poster.

and im out.
sf.

oh by the way.
im working on getting a band together for tour. so if anyone knows
any dope musicians in the atlanta area, please get at me via the
boards, or email.

In other news, I got the word yesterday that "Walls Dont Exist"
will be played in Urban Outfitters stores nation-wide here in
the US. So the next time you're up in there, see if the music
sounds familiar.

Yup. That's about it for now. I'm getting ready to head back to
atl and start working extra hard on music, and preparing for
the tour. As it stands, I might be going out on the road with
Jean Grae and Roosevelt Franklin. Should be a lot of fun.

oh, and check out the latest album review from hhi, they
gave "Walls" a 4.5/5...not bad at all.

here is another positive review from hiphopdx.
