We live in an age of crunk, jiggy and gangsta. And while that¹s notnecessarily a bad thing it means that some classics are falling betweenthe cracks. A few years back One Day Everything Changed¹ would havebeen Album Of The Month¹ with its easy beats that hark back to the daysof Tribe, Common and Pete Rock. The title cut features the slept onDetroit emcee Lacks who even manages to drop in a couple of Lord Of TheRings¹ references. The fantastic "There¹s A War Going On" features JayDee and is the first single to be lifted from this mighty album. Thesecond single will be "This Is Dedicated To" which features theubiquitous MF Doom. On this track Oyejide makes no attempt to hide hisinfluences instead he salutes them. This self-produced gem makes mostcontemporary rap albums seem obvious, crass and made for the market. **** Mike Lewis" ___________________________________________________ Wednesday, June 9th Aight yall.
